“McCloughan’s biggest accomplishment over the past year was transforming the Redskins into a structurally sound organization by establishing a clear hierarchy, which allowed everything else to fall into place, something not seen in Washington at any previous point since Snyder purchased the team.
”’I think now for the first time I can say that, after we got rid of a head coach who I thought a lot of who could help us win games, with Jay being there, we’re starting to get the players that we needed,’ [Santana] Moss said. ‘You know, I was there for a while and we didn’t have a lot of good players.’”
From Washington.cbslocal.com, Santana Moss on Snyder expressing doubt about RGIII.
So much controversy surrounds Robert Griffin III that it’s sure to be a subject of a 14-part FX series someday. Writers at the WaPOST surveyed NFL talent evaluators about Griffin’s prospects for the future and DC Sports Bog put it in the form of a virtual round table discussion. This Adam Schefter quote stopped me […]

The Washington Redskins are widely expected to release quarterback Robert Griffin III at some point this offseason, but general manager Scot McCloughan isn’t rushing into any decision on the future of his polarizing quarterback. “The thing that’s good about where we are right now is, we have until March 9,” McCloughan said, via the Washington […]
Most quarterbacks probably wouldn’t mind being on a list of the worst Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks because it would mean they own a Super Bowl ring. It’s kind of like being the ugliest Miss America or the flabbiest Mr. Universe. Only 31 quarterbacks have won Super Bowls. Ten of them are in the Hall of Fame and […]
The NFL’s Conference Championship weekend saw the Denver Broncos survive a late rally from Tom Brady and the New England Patriots to win the AFC and Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers blowout the Arizona Cardinals to capture the NFC crown. The Broncos and Panthers will now meet in Santa Clara for Super Bowl 50 in […]
“The Redskins’ handling of Robert Griffin III almost from start to what seems to be the inevitable finish in a few weeks has been rife with mistakes. Among them was the decision to pick up his $16 million option for 2016. Not only did the option, which is guaranteed for injury, keep the Redskins from being able to either play or trade Griffin, it sets up a scenario where they won’t get even a late-round pick as compensation when he leaves. Click on the article for details but since the Redskins will be releasing him they won’t be eligible for a compensatory draft pick when he moves on.”

Armchair coaches were busy during the 2015 NFL divisional playoffs. Some of the coaching decisions made this weekend will provide fodder for conversation well into the spring. The most boneheaded play call of the weekend was made by a winning team, so that coach got away with it. There were several debatable decisions, however, that […]
The divisional round of the NFL playoffs presents an interesting dynamic. The four teams that won on wild-card weekend all come in with momentum and people jump on their bandwagon. All four of those teams are on the road against either a No. 1 or No. 2 seed, but their chances of pulling an upset […]
Don’t connect any dots yet, but a sports writer-capologist thinks Mike Shanahan could make a play for Kirk Cousins, if Mike lands with a new NFL team. Like fans everywhere, Redskins fans think all the leverage is with the team in these free agent contract matters. Contracts are set by market forces and not by […]
In the NFL’s postseason, just one player can be the difference between advancing to the next round and going home early. Here is one x-factor for all eight teams participating in this weekend’s Divisional Round: Kansas City Chiefs: TE Travis Kelce It’s no secret that the Chiefs will have to run the football and pressure […]
“Long derailed by a lack of mental toughness, rampant drama and a losing mentality, the [Redskins] this season developed a reputation as a physical unit, remained unified despite potentially locker-room-fracturing incidents and made an improbable run to the postseason.”

AccuScore got it wrong projecting a Redskins win over the Packers in the Wild Card Round last Sunday. But they were close to nailing the predicted passing performance of the two Aaron Rodgers and Kirk Cousins. Check it out. AccuScore: “Rodgers is projected to pass for 267 yards and at least one touchdown.” Rodger’s game […]
The NFL’s 12-team playoff field in 2015 is now down to just eight. The weekend’s Wild Card Round eliminated four teams (Houston Texans, Cincinnati Bengals, Minnesota Vikings and Washington Redskins) and advanced four others (Kansas City Chiefs, Pittsburgh Steelers, Seattle Seahawks and Green Bay Packers) to the Divisional Round. Here’s a look at the best […]
“Cousins, obviously miscast as the career backup he was projected as when he was drafted, has played the lead role in helping resurrect the Redskins from a 2-4 start to NFC East champions.”
~ NY Post (of all places), Kirk Cousins is better than Aaron Rodgers….

Here is how each of the eight teams can score a first-round win and advance to the Divisional Round: Kansas City Chiefs: Win turnover margin The Chiefs won 10 straight games to finish the 2015 season, largely […]
Without the comfort of leaning on Aaron Rodgers and the offense, the Green Bay Packers must look to their defense—and its ability to pressure the quarterback—to lead the team to a win over Kirk Cousins and the Washington Redskins in the NFC Wild Card Round. It seems ever more unlikely, given the sheer volume of evidence […]

“Mike Shanahan and Bruce Allen rescued the salary cap from disorder. McCloughan seeded the team with a nucleus of developing talent already contributing to the team.
“Doggonit if the Redskins aren’t operating like a real NFL club with genuine football intelligence.”
