Giants win the NFC East? Hog Heaven demands answers.

Yesterday, Hog Heaven wrote about predictionmachine.com’s outlook on the Redskins 2016 season and the NFC East. (See the link at the end of this story.) We were perplexed by Prediction Machine’s love for the Giants. So we demanded asked for politely emailed them for an explanation. Prediction Machine’s GM Rob Pizzola responded. “We already really […]

Why do they predict the Redskins to win 7.6 games?

Those nice people at the sports books insist that you commit to a number over or under the betting line. The projection of the Redskins to win 7.6 games is a betting line. You must pick seven or fewer wins (unlikely), or eight or more wins to place a bet. Hog Heaven dropped our own […]

Why the Washington Redskins WILL win the NFC East this year

Last season, the Washington Redskins were imperious as they won the NFC East title – albeit in a very poor division. The Dallas Cowboys struggled to cope after Tony Romo’s injury while the New York Giants’ inconsistent clock management cost them dearly during the regular season. And as for the Philadelphia Eagles, the Chip Kelly […]

Redskins Quarterbacks: Yes, I do like that.

The team published an image of three Redskins quarterbacks on its Facebook page today. Pictured are Kirk Cousins, Sonny Jurgensen and Doug Williams. Doug Williams was two years old when Sonny Jurgensen entered the NFL. Jurgensen retired from football four years before Williams entered the league, and 14 years before Kirk Cousins was born. All […]

What’s up, Doc(tson)? The real reason the Redskins are hiding Josh Doctson.

How much longer do Redskins fans have to wait to see our shiny new first-round toy, WR Josh Doctson? Some say it’s day to day. Others say he’s a bust pick, put him on PUP for the first 6 games and we’ll be lucky to get him even then. According to all, the coaches are […]

Your reaction to the Redskins 2016 schedule should be phfft!

USA Today published its 2016 preseason NFL power ranking. Let’s indulge our curiosity about the Redskins 2016 schedule and rank opponents by the USA Today power ranking. USA Today RANK TEAM GAME DAY COMMENTS 1 Arizona CARDINALS December 4 Tough out. The Cardinals won 34 games over the last three season and scored 101 more […]

For Redskins’ Matt Jones, it takes a team to struggle at rushing

Matt Jones’ struggle to run against the Falcons was the biggest disappointment of the Redskins’ night. Football is the most team oriented of all sports. Failed plays cannot be laid solely at the feet of the player with the ball. It really does take 10 other guys to make a play work. Rich Tandler reminds […]

What did we see in Redskins at Falcons last night? Less than we wished.

Redskins at Falcons is in the books. Hog Heaven contributor Scott was left distraught by the effort. Hog Heaven himself takes a look in light of the five things we hoped to see. Kirk Cousins improvement and offensive ball movement. From espn.com’s John Keim: Kirk Cousins makes sharp decisions, effective throws in Redskins opener. “But […]

Redskins fans are in for a big disappointment this year

The defense will outshine the offense and the pathetic run game and blocking.  Hogs 2.0?  More like Piglets 2.0! Not optimistic about what I saw. Davis’s drop wasn’t just a drop for an easy catch for a TD, it was a series of endless drops he’s had from last year too with the Broncos. A […]

Redskins league leaders, what are the odds?

Here’s a fun way to spend a few moments before the Redskins at Falcons game tonight: What are the odds for Redskins league leaders? My friends at Bovada.lv are here to help with their betting odds of NFL Stat Leaders for 2016. Here is what they say. Odds for who will be the NFL Passing […]

5 things we want to see in the Redskins vs. Falcons game

Show me this in Redskins vs. Falcons. No. 5: Kirk Cousins’ improvement. Hog Heaven takes it for granted that QB Kirk Cousins continues his steady improvement from 2015. Blah blah blah full offseason blah blah blah contract year blah blah blah motivated blah blah blah. Full disclosure: Hog Heaven is a Spartans grad and fan […]

GLENDALE, AZ - OCTOBER 12: Linebacker Trent Murphy #93 of the Washington Redskins on the sidelines during the NFL game against the Arizona Cardinals at the University of Phoenix Stadium on October 12, 2014 in Glendale, Arizona. The Cardinals defeated the Redskins 30-20. (Photo by Christian Petersen/Getty Images)

Why did the Redskins move Trent Murphy back to linebacker?

With a dramatic weight change faster than you can say “Josh LeRibeus,” Trent Murphy will go back to Outside Linebacker. The official reason is for depth since the Galette injury. The problem with that explanation is that the Galette injury happened a couple weeks ago. The real reason is either 1) The backup outside linebacker […]

Redskins sign Native American WR Kendal Thompson to the roster

The Washington Redskins yesterday signed former Utah Utes QB Kendal Thompson to the roster to compete for a wide receiver spot. The Redskins did not make a big deal of Thompson’s heritage. He is Kiowa from Oklahoma. Hog Heaven is making a big deal that no one is making a big deal, because that’s the […]

Tim Kaine said Senate should stay out of the Redskins name controversy

Democratic U.S. Senators whipped themselves in a PC frenzy two years ago when they publicly condemned the Washington Redskins team name in a letter to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, instead of to Daniel Snyder who owns the team and the brand.

Tim Kaine and his Virginia colleague Mark Warner were the only Democratic Senators not to play along.

Asked to explain, Kaine said he did not care for the name but that the Senate should stay out of it.

Hog Heaven leans Democratic, but we look askance at Dems who invent offense where none exists. (Excessive political correctness gave rise to Donald Trump who makes a fetish of incorrectness.)

Whatever you think of Kaine, his stance is the correct one for government. This is a free country. Outside of safety, equality and criminal activity, private decisions by people and business is not their concern.

Redskins’ Junior Galette OUT for 2016 season

ESPN.com’s John Keim broke the news that Redskins pass rusher Junior Galette tore his Achilles tendon and will miss the 2016 season. noooooooooo! Is all I’ve got to say. nooooooooooo. Hog Heaven’s personal projection for the 2016 season drops by one game from 8-9 wins to 7-8 wins.

Redskins: Rare Trent Williams Hype Video

Rare that someone makes a hype video of an offensive lineman. Somebody did that for Trent Williams. Thanks to his play, no one in Washington says, “Gee, this team really misses Chris Samuels.”

Language Not Safe for Work. I am old school about that.

Chief Zee and the era when Redskins fans owned the game day experience

The passing of Zema “Chief Zee” Williams is a big deal, but not just for the loss of arguably the Redskins’ staunchest fan. The Chief is from an age when fans were more expressive. You know, before the NFL corporationists wrested control of the game experience from fans. They snuffed out all the originality that […]
