Jansen Restructures

by archivedposts on February 22, 2008

In a somewhat surprising move, the Redskins opted to extend their financial commitment to T Jon Jansen Thursday, taking 4.3 million dollars of base salary, and converting it into signing bonus. The move will save Washington 3.2 million against the cap, and estimates say this move will bring the team within six figures of the 116 million dollar limit. The move is a small surprise because Jansen only appeared in one game last year, and now the Redskins are pretty much committed to him through the 2009 season, no matter what (except retirement). Expect Ladell Betts, Clinton Portis, and Chris Samuels to follow shortly with restructured deals.

I would also say this is a ’small’ surprise. Jansen is a stud when healthy, an awesome presence in the locker room, you cannot have enough quality guys like this on the roster. The year he played with two casts on his hands said it all for me. You can’t keep a good man down. Nice job Redskins.

Just another click word;stud, like the guy who said that about the center before Raiback.Excuse spelling.A stud would fit a killer de,dt,or mlb,Patrick Willis comes to mind .A stud stays healthy and plays hurt.Jack Ham was a stud!AS Mike Curtis from Rockville. At least we will have a excellent pick next year.
