Redskins’ Bramlet wins World Bowl, MVP

by archivedposts on June 25, 2007

Casey Bramlet presents the Washington Redskins with another arrow for the quiver. The Redskins allocated the little-known quarterback from Wyoming to the NFL Europe. Yesterday, Bramlet led the Hamburg Sea Devils to the World Bowl championship, and was named MVP for his effort. Visiting Hamburg beat home team Frankfort in a 37-28 shootout. Bramlet threw four touchdown passes on 347 yards for a QB rating of 155.5. Read the game summaries on ESPN, and on NFLEurope.com. The Cincinnati Bengals selected Bramlet in the seventh round of the 2004 draft. He signed with the Redskins as a unrestricted free agent in 2006, but was released at the end of the pre-season. Bramlet played for the Hamburg Sea Devils in 2005 and 2006. His 2007 NFL Europa performance makes him hard to ignore by the Redskins and the NFL. He should enter training camp with sharper skills as the result of his recent game experience. He will need to be a quick study to pick up this year's version of Al Saunders' playbook, since he missed the OTAs and team mini-camp. Bramlet is 6-4, 225 pounds, about the same measurables as Jason Campbell. The Redskins have six quarterbacks on the roster competing for four slots. Jason Campbell and Mark Brunell are assured of a position. One player will likely make the practice squad. The NFL Network will re-air the World Bowl today at 12 Noon and 3:00 p.m. EDT today.

If a World Bowl MVP doesn’t earn him a right to be a Redskin, then we should just stop allocating players all together. There isn’t anything else he could have reasonably been expected to do.

He is still young. Redskins should release Todd Collins and keep Bramlet in the 3rd spot. Then Jordan Palmer to Practice squad.
